Insects of the San Joaquin County Delta  Download this site in PDF format.

Historically, the valley was a mix of native grassland communities, hard alkali flats, and riparian corridors. The valley floor has been largely altered by human use, with isolated patches of habitat left in wildlife refuges and the surrounding foothills. Many of the endemic species are in great peril due to fragmentation and continued loss of remaining habitat. - Jon Hirt
